Our mission for over 15 years has been to prepare them. Now, it’s time to scale up and bring to life our most ambitious program.

The Eco-Designers Program is the first of its kind to be taught in public High Schools, blending principles of climate science, ecology, regenerative design, sociology and ethics for environmental sustainability.

Our Eco-Designer Method’s primary tool is permaculture, a design method & philosophy which integrates principles of ecology, design and ethics.  This interdisciplinary, project-based approach illuminates nature-inspired solutions that can prepare our students for an uncertain future. 

• Customizable curriculum structured into years or semesters that may be licensed separately, allowing schools to tailor the program to their unique needs.
  
               Semester: Introduction to Climate Crisis & Permaculture Design
             School year: Permaculture Fundamentals
             ​School year: Certification in Permaculture Design

• Curricular offerings: Lesson plans, worksheets, handouts, and hands-on activities with rubrics for each unit.
• Professional Learning & Coaching for teachers by our President and Founder Monica Ibacache.

Created by Monica Ibacache, Founder and President of Beyond Organic Design, our program offers schools the tools and resources they need to incorporate whole-systems thinking into their classrooms. For schools, this is a low-stakes, high-impact way to explore cutting-edge educational change.

​Whole-Systems Thinking: Educators will learn how to integrate whole-systems thinking into their teaching practices, inspiring students to understand the interconnectedness of ecological, social, and economic systems.

Project-Based Approach: Discover how project-based learning can ignite students' passion for STEM subjects while addressing real-world sustainability challenges. Our method makes learning fun, relevant, and impactful.

Expert Leadership: Monica Ibacache brings over 15 years of experience in teaching Permaculture Design in a wide variety of settings, including New York City. Our program is tailored to make sustainability education relevant and accessible to students in urban settings.

Coaching Sessions: Educators receive ongoing support throughout the school year that will help them implement and adapt our curriculum to their students’ learning styles.

Curriculum Materials: Our partner schools will access a comprehensive STEAM-based curriculum that is ready to teach (lesson plans, slideshows, games, handouts, & rubrics). 

Schools will have the flexibility to license individual years of the curriculum or specific semesters (Fundamentals 1 & 2), allowing the program to meet their unique needs
