Introduction to Permaculture and Food Forest Design (Murfreesboro)

  • ​Format: 96-hour three times a week 4h classes.
  • Audience: High school students ages 15–18
  • Location: Murfreesboro, Tennessee
  • Partners: Oregon State University (OSU), Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation
  • Description: 96-hour, school-year permaculture and food forest design program developed in partnership with Oregon State University and Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation. Through hands-on fieldwork, mapping, ecological restoration, and design practice, students created proposals for two city parks managed by the Parks and Recreation Department.
  • Impact: Gave students the opportunity to earn certificates through Oregon State University while building practical design skills and exploring green career pathways.
​Urban Design and Sustainability Program (UDSP)

  • Format: Summer Program
  • Audience: 3rd to 5th grade 
  • Location: Queens, New York
  • Description: Free summer environmental education program run by us 2016 to 2023. The program engaged youth in hands-on learning, ecological design, sustainability, and field-based experiences that connected environmental concepts to urban life.
  • Impact: Expanded access to meaningful summer learning opportunities, removed financial barriers to participation, and deepened students’ understanding of climate, design, and regenerative systems through direct experience.
